View Full Version : Double interlacing?!

Hello.. I use DScaler to capture PAL VHS video into HuffYUV stream (does a nice job of syncing AV).. But when the video is loaded into an editor (AVIDemux, Virtualdub etc) and I use the usual TFF/BFF check the video never appears as progressive and interlacing artifacts remain no matter what deinterlacer I use (Preview Field Mode in VDub, Yadif's Bob/skip spatial+temporal in AVIDemux). Does DScaler add an extra layer of deinterlacing? Tough luck finding support on the forums there. Is there a way to resolve this? I already authored one DVD using TMPGEnc and the jumping picture is all over the place.

Post a link to an unprocessed source sample.

A "jumping" picture may indicate use of the wrong field order.

It seems the media is to blame (Sony DVD-R media).. I have a PS2 and a Chinese DVD player and the 'jumpiness' is much less on the PS2 but it is quite noticeable. My LG GSA-H55N burner doesn't burn slower than 4x using Nero. At least now I know where the fault is.. I think! Thanks =D
