Please advise the proper procedures for doing a successful full disc copy of the 2008 version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

Among other things, BD-RB indicates that it contains a video stream before the main movie (Perhaps for the PIP activity?), a zip file, and a "filmindex.xml" file.

My first attempt resulted in a disc that (on a PC) plays the previews, accesses the menu - and then, if "Play" is selected plays through the FBI warning and then stops with a black screen. If, instead, a scene is selected, it immediately stops at a black screen.

In both instances, PowerDVD 7.3 (no updates) indicates that it halts at Title 1 of 81.

Please mention anything that must specifically be excluded or included.

Thank you.

Just ripping this, and was gonna try it, the probs you have are exactly the same as i get for Some Universal Titles, although this one is a fox title... if anybody knows please share the knowledge as i am keen to know of any pitfalls.

FWIW... A movie only copy to BD9, using the default setting with strict compliance for AVCHD works fine.

My interest is, as I stated, making a successful full disc copy...

Like I said... FWIW. I also made a 1:1 copy onto a 50gb BD-RE disc which plays correctly in all my players, in case you're interested in that approach.

I'm sure it will take jdobbs awhile before BD-Rebuilder is bulletproof.

Well, this disc definately does have a PIP track and maybe that is the problem...incorrect stream mapping?

Maybe.

I made a full copy to bd-9 which is fine with the exception that on my standalone sony I can't select the audio. This is a known problem which I got around on a previous title by doing it as a bd-25 but leaving the audio untouched.

@FuriousfleaWell, this disc definately does have a PIP track and maybe that is the problem...incorrect stream mapping?And if this is the case (as I suspect it may very well be), are both videostreams (primary movie and PIP) in the same .M2TS file?

If so, would the cure be as simple as loading .M2TS file into tsMuxeR and swapping the relative positions of the two videostreams?

If this is not the case, is there a known "fix" for such a problem?

My problematic disc was created by BD-RB set to BD(DVD)9.

Perhaps "jdobbs" will read this thread and be able to offer an explanation/solution...

There are problems in BD-RB with sources that have PiP streams embedded in them. I'd guess that's the most likely cause of the issue. I'm working on a solution.

@jdobbs

Thank you for that feedback.

I'm fairly certain that you're correct, as the PiP plays properly in the uncompressed rip of the full BluRay disc.

I'll patiently look forward to hearing of your fix ;>}
