I installed a nVidia fx 5200 on my computer and all of a sudden I can't activate overlay function in ffdshow when used in conjunction with MPC. Other than installing a graphics card, I haven't done anything to my computer. I'm puzzled as to why this is occurring.
Thanks for your input

Wow, a long wait for a first post. :)
What you can check (change?):
- Output colorspaces in ffdshow
- Renderer in MPC
- Settings and/or version of NVidia driver (I have that card and in later versions of the driver they seem to discourage hardware overlay. That's not the same, but who knows...)

It's funny. Because when I play an video in VLC I can select to change the brightness and contrast so I'm led to believe that it's not exactly the nVidia's problem...

It was just my observation, probably you can just disregard it. I wanted to say, I had only trouble with this card and drivers higher than 9x.xx. I found, the older drivers I put - the better. :D Your situation may vary.
But do check the first two things.
