Video-Bitrate for HD Videos

Hi
I have some HD mkv movies witch are quite large

original videos:
Video: x264, 1920x1080, ~10000kbps
Audio: 2 channel dts
Size: 8GB - 16GB

I've re encoded these vids with:
Video: x264, 1920x1080, ~4300kbps
Audio: 2 channel OGG
Size: 4,38GB (normal DVD)

I've done this a few times and I can't hardly find any differences in Quality (just in watching and comparing the vids).
The final video bitrate is about 4300kbps.

What are your results, recommendation for video bitrate in kbps???
