From the new FFVII ACC trailer (with the Himuro/Way BGM):

Let's hope SE didn't use those same settings for their upcoming Blu-ray. ;)

wtf rev 635? 0 bframes? no 8x8dct? no b-rdo?

It looks beautiful (http://img1.hugeup.com/f/04152009/ddcef364.png) even with those, though :P

There's some blocking in areas where I *think* there used to be grain, but considering how it looks now, at Blu-ray bitrates it should look perfect, even if they use these settings :P

it doesnt look good to me. no details on the face (in general the right side of the image is blurry) and the background is ablockfest...

It's a "blockfest", but only in the sense that there used to be grain there. You can't really see the blocks unless you get a bit closer to your monitor :p

As for the face, I'm not sure how much detail was on there anyway. Maybe the chin/lips/nose lost detail, but I dunno.

You can't really say it looks bad without a reference image, since the face could look the same way in the source and likewise for the background. Also, background looks like its out of focus and not blurry IMO.

Still, when you consider some H.264 implementations and how the stuff comes out, I'm just glad they used x264 instead.

im not saying that it looks bad coz they used x264... im saying they didnt use a recent version and they were not even able to configure it correctly for optimal quality...

Found another Japanese website that use X264 for their videos
http://www.saki-anime.com/special_movie.html

core 65 r999 cc51047 - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec - Copyleft 2003-2008 - http://www.videolan.org/x264.html - options: cabac=1 ref=3 deblock=1:-1:-1 analyse=0x1:0x111 me=umh subme=7 psy_rd=0.5:0.0 mixed_ref=1 me_range=16 chroma_me=1 trellis=1 8x8dct=0 cqm=0 deadzone=21,11 chroma_qp_offset=-2 threads=3 nr=0 decimate=1 mbaff=0 bframes=16 b_pyramid=0 b_adapt=1 b_bias=0 direct=3 wpredb=1 keyint=300 keyint_min=1 scenecut=54(pre) rc=2pass bitrate=536 ratetol=1.0 qcomp=0.60 qpmin=1 qpmax=51 qpstep=16 cplxblur=20.0 qblur=0.5 ip_ratio=1.40 pb_ratio=1.30 aq=0

I really like to see that some people are using X264 to encode their videos for streaming on the internet the quality is awesome compared to those shit quality videos that we see on other websites.
