I have a PVR-250 and am editing an mpeg-2 file it generated (cutting out commercials). After I made my cuts, the resulting file has some serious a/v sync issues. Suggestions as to how to handle this?
EDIT: the source file plays perfectly in sync in vlc, but when I simply load it in avidemux and play it, the a/v sync issues are there and this is before I edited it.

1. Update to Avidemux 2.4.4 Final or even better Avidemux 2.5
2. Set up the audio delay properly (the "shift" box exists for a reason)

I found the shift box but I can't understand why I would need to use it [the shift] it should just work.

...because you need to set up the delay properly to get correct sync.
Just because you are used to players that will re-sync the video automatically doesn't mean that Avidemux works like that too ;)
I usually use DGIndex to detect the delay of my MPEG-2 captures.

Hmm... I'm not using Windows (it's avidemux for LINUX). Can you recommend a LINUX tool that will give me the correct delay. I don't have a problem entering a correction in Avidemux, I do have a problem doing so when I have to guess at it just by watching a clip since I'm not perfect :)

Doesn't DGIndex run via Wine?

Haven't tried it... it's bad enough that I'm using mpegvcr though Wine. I'm really missing some LINUX-native apps for video editing! Handbrake is about the best I've seen, but it's a) not as powerful as MeGUI and b) kinda quirky about things.
