I am looking for a program that does the following:-
Converts the a video/from DVD for PSP and iPhone 3G with internal and external srt subtitles.
When converting a DVD for both PSP and iPhone it must take the subtitles (even if it is hardcoded) as well from DVD straight thru not ripping the subtitles separate(not into an srt file)
I know of Handbrake that does for iPhone and PSP but i doesn't support srt files.
If theres a program like that i will be much happy with less programs. I have tried XviD4PSP that does not support hardcoding the DVD subtitles straight from the DVD it only supports external subs.

Hello,
Based on my experience, both iPhone and PSP doesn't support .srt... So, to be able to view subtitle, you will probably have to burn the subtitle on the video you wanted to convert. (You won't be able to turn them off at all.)
You can do that easily with AviSynth once you load some plugin for hardsubbing.
I don't know any of program that would do it noob friendly...
If you know how to use MeGUI, then I will be able to help you by using AviSynth's plugin, vsfilter.dll.

I don't want to turn them off I need them on everything.
I want them hardsubbing, as long as they shown, thats what matters. Does MeGUI support subtitles from the DVD and with external srt? If it does then I'll give it ago.

Yes. MeGUI, using Avisynth, can hardcode subtitles into an encoded video.

Hello again.
I just stumbled into XVID4PSP.
http://www.winnydows.com/page.php?2
I think it have everything you need.
It will burn subtitle on the video.
It also will convert to iPod, whatever. Excellent tool.
Just try it, if it doesn't work, then repost and I'll help you with MeGUI.

By the way, if you want to use DVD IDX/SUB subtitle format, you will have to rip them by using appropriate program.

You probably didn't see my another post.

I think you should try that first. If you want to rip the DVD, you'll have to use DVDFab HD Decrypter. Here's a link for doing it. http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/225/59/
(Mods, if this site is bad, please remove. I think it look okay.)
Once you ripped it, then you'll need to extract the subtitle, VSRip is good program to rip the IDX/SUB subtitle from the VOBS you just ripped on your hard drive.
When you are done with those steps, fire up XVID4PSP and BEFORE you do anything, go to 'Setting->Auto Crop->Disable' so that the way subtitle will be on the black border. Not completed on the video itself.
Now click the DVD button and load folder (VIDEO_TS) that you ripped on Hard Drive, let it index, and select audio with 6ch if there is one, (I know you dont need it... but XVID4PSP need to know which one...) then it will check to see if it is interlaced or not.
NOW, finally, click the subtitle at top bar and add the IDX/SUB and then the video will refresh and you should be able to see the subtitles on it!
Look at left side, you will see several list of setting. Do:
Format: MP4 PSP AVC (For PSP)
Leave next two Disabled.
Video Encoding: x264 1P 768k Turbo
Audio Encoding: Whatever you want, you can set it to Disable, or set it to low 'AAC-HE CBR 64k' so your friend could listen to it.
Then finally click Encode! (Or press save to add it to list to encode)
Enjoy.

Care to explain? Post some screens?
I can't help you if you don't explain the error in more details.
My guess is that you are missing some codecs required for XviD4PSP.
Maybe you don't have Microsoft Framework 3.0?
(I won't be here to check up on this thread. Will check in about hour and half)
