Back in GKnot-times I used to encode b&w movies with the option greyscale to save some bits. I wonder how I can enable this option using MeGUI/xvid_encraw?
Another question: is there still an advantage of using xvid's greyscale option on an avs-source with chroma wiped out via greyscale()?
Whats about chroma motion? Does chroma=0 mean that the algorythms will be disabled? Or can I save some time by disabling it on b&w content?

Thanks!

I wonder how I can enable this option using MeGUI/xvid_encraw?You can't at the moment, unless you use this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145631)build, because the Greyscale encoding feature falls under zones. The zones feature was taken out of MeGUI a while back, but will be put back in again as an extended feature, at some point in the future.
Another question: is there still an advantage of using xvid's greyscale option on an avs-source with chroma wiped out via greyscale()?No.

Also, see this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145853)thread. Much of that is also true for Xvid.

Ok, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks for the explanation! Do you know why the zones feature was taken out?

Do you know why the zones feature was taken out?I asked the same question some time back, but didn't receive an answer. But when the Extended Zones feature came along, I presumed that the reason the zones was taken off was to bring them back with more features.
