Windows Media Player plays DIV3 avi's ok apparently using a Nero 7 codec, however MediaPlayerClassic won't play the file saying it hasn't got a codec to play it with. I tried to add the Nero codec to the external filters, but no luck there.
I have xvid and Nero and CoreAVC and PowerDVD4 installed under XP-SP3.
Any ideas ?

Thanks yes I could, however I'm trying to give it up. Any other suggestions (like how to get MPC to use the same codec that WMP uses) ?

What's the specific error message you get in MPC? "Cannot render the file" in the status bar or something more specific as a pop-up? Post it here.
Edit: Also post a screenshot of rendering the file in Graphedit or Graphstudio, if you get a chance.

OK, here's the MPC shot. Will have to search for and download graphedit...
Edit: added snaps from GraphEdit. By default when opening the avi, it said "cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found". When I try to add the Nero Video Decoder which WMP says its using under "Properties" when playing, GraphEdit throws the attached errors.

OK, while we wait for the images to be approved, what happens when you try using the external AVI splitter that WMP uses in MPC (by unchecking "AVI" in MPC's View-> Options -> Internal Filters -> Source Filters)? I have assumed that the DIV3 streams are in fact in AVI containers.

In view of the fact that you're trying to play an old-format DivX 3 video that you created, don't you already have the DivX v.3.11alpha codec installed on your system?

@halsboss
Where did you get the AVI and why are you obscuring it's filename?

The Nero filter is probably restricted to function only in specific applications. That explains why it does not work in MPC and GraphEdit, but does work in WMP. Nero sucks. Just use ffdshow.
