Let's see how it compares vs a Avisynth High Tech Framework ;)

i didn't tried it yet but it seems it's DirectShow based so should be pretty compatible with every Video Format that plays in Dshow, so i guess it can also be combined with some move arounds with Avisynth if necessary ;)

Does vReveal allow me to enhance HD video?

No. You can import any video resolution, including HD, into vReveal and apply simple edits like rotate and trim. But you can only apply enhancements to videos with a vertical resolution of 576 pixels (PAL resolution) or less.

Applying the computationally-intensive super-resolution enhancements to HD (720p and bigger) video would take an unreasonably long time on lower-end computer systems, leading to an unsatisfying user experience. So, this version of vReveal includes algorithms optimized for videos with less than HD quality.

We are planning on releasing a higher-end version of vReveal in the future that would allow enhancement of HD video.


That kills it for now i guess for many, also SR can only be used @ a vertical resolution of 288 or less :P

I wrote my review on it yesterday, same results, it will be interesting to see in the future, their press release ( dunno if official one, i got the press one off their ftp ) says that a HD version will be up in the future.

An easy to use program that gives a better quality ( don't know about encoding quality yet, cuda vs x264 etc etc ) for "noobs" with cheap cameras ( <1500$ lets say ) is welcomed no ? :)

it's no H.264 Encoder it's just a Post Processor based on Software and Cuda the most interesting is their SR Algorithm the rest i think Denoiser, normal Sharpening can't compare against Avisynth available filters @ all but im still testing :)

Well how does it work then ? after you apply the "fx" you have to render it no ?

I did some quick test with some small old footage... When dealing with little noise and still motives, it does work out some details. But as soon as movement is in the picture, I wasn´t impressed at all, it just seems to be a "good" upscaler ... The miracles expected from the "forensic background" of the company are in absence.. To be fair, I only did a 10 minute test...
