Hi everyone, i'm doing a small research about the effect of quality of wireless network to the quality of transmitted video. i need to be able to adjust the network bandwidth in various size. i also need to be able to know what is the congestion level of a wireless network at a certain period. Would anyone please tell me where i can get free bandwidth limiting and congestion measure software? Thanks

Are you planning on running this all within one machine, or actually deploying a wireless network and measuring from there?
If you're doing it all within one machine, you'll be running it in some sort of simulator/emulator (like ns2). You'll need to model the network but you can control things like the link capacities and measure some quantities. If you're doing it across multiple machines, you're kinda hosed --- you can limit the bandwidth by modifying the maximum amount of data a router will send, but there's no generic software to do it (you'll have to do it manually).
Lastly, "network congestion" isn't something that can be summed up by a single number. I'm guess you want to measure the drop rate and latency (possibly throughput). That'll be different for different machines on the network, depending on the configuration. Again, unless you're planning on running a simulator and measuring these things yourself, you're probably not going to find generic software to do this.
