I`m currently working with yashaka and am trying to make the backround around a figure black. I could do it frame by frame in photoshop with the magic wand tool, but that is very much work.

Is there a magic wand like feature in some video editing software? Yashakas chroma is to vague I need something more precise.

The best way to have done this is to be shot with chroma keying in mind. If you did that your video editing software should have a chroma keying filter. I also believe that Avisynth has a filter for items such as this as well.

However, if this video was shot without chroma keying in mind (meaning that there are other random objects besides a solid color) you are stuck cutting your figure out frame by frame.

see if you can find a luma key in jahshaka, otherwise take a look at blender or avisynth for more advanced keying options (avisynth can definitely do it for you, but for a lot of people it becomes a black hole of script that few emerge from).

Problem is it's a capture of a game:

No mono color background and avisynth without gui is too much for me.

Edit the game making everything green ( not what you want to keep ) and then keylight it in AE if possible.
