merging two elementary stream

using Cuttermaran, can I merge two demuxed (using ProjectX) files into one and build a single mpeg?

Hi Stefano,
it's me again...:D

Cuttermaran does not come with proper documentation, so you have an excuse here. There is a support forum, but the English section has very little traffic. And there also is a Wiki, but for your question it gives you the wrong answers. Starting with version 1.69 Cuttermaran introduced a new feature, and this is called "TabControl with one video tab for each open video file". This makes it very easy to merge different source streams.


Here is the HowTo:

The streams you want to merge must have the same properties. Same resolution, same frame rate, same audio format and sample rate.

Open the first stream as usual, then click on the "New video tab" button [+] which is to the left of the "Open video" button. A new tab opens which lets you load another stream. When you do your cuts you can freely switch between the video tabs and combine clips from all loaded videos.

Can I ask you something more?
In case yes, Is it possible to do the same job with ProjectX?
I mean, is it possible to load two or more ts files into ProjectX and produce, at same time, intra frames cuts from both the files, without the hassle to close it and reload the new one?
In this way I will see them demuxed into separately streams each one coming from its own ts file that I can load later into Cuttermaran.

I only use ProjectX to demux TS streams and convert them to PS, so I am not too familiar with its other capabilities. But ProjectX sure can load several TS streams, edit them (at I-frame boundaries) and combine them to one demuxed stream.

But again there is no proper documentation available, you have to figure out the procedures yourself. I found a couple of tutorials on the web, but they are all written for older versions of ProjectX.

I did by myself a couple of tests yesterday afternoon and I see that it can be done by ProjectX.
It seems to me that, once you loaded the files, you can cut them individually and combine them to one demuxed stream.

The only important thing I noticed is that you always have to remember to move in first position of the loaded box, the file you are working on.
It seems to me that in this way, one lets understand ProjectX which TS files have to be edited. Again, the demuxed and merged file will take the name of the file in the first, loaded window, position.

Hope that will be handy to you or to someone else...
