Dear all,
I recorded DVDs from my satellite tuner and the pictures is really good.
But I have a big problem:
During fast motion (and not so fast in fact), for example someone going from the left to the right of the screen, I have a green halo in front of the object which is moving, and the halo "follow" the shape of the object and the motion.
It is difficult to have a picture with the green halo because it is only during motion and the halo doesn't appear during "image by image" speed reading.
The halo is about 5 to 10 pixel width.
Did you have already this problem? and which filter would you recommend?
thanks
Francois
edit: I tested the recorded DVD on different standalone player and plasma screen, and the halo is here everytime (so the problem comes from the recorded DVD, as commercial DVD doesen't exhibit this halo).

I answer to myself.....could it be a problem with interlacing? my DVD are PAL 2:2, and they are film, so they are progressive but interlaced encoded....?
any advice?

Noone can help you unless you put up a downloadable sample. And put here a picture too, as for a quick preview.

By now, I can count 8 posts in 4 different threads, where you've thrown in that issue, still without showing us anything useful.
Show us a sample that causes the issue. Perhaps you'll get an answer then.
edit2: just remembered you showed us this sample (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1257494#post1257494) of static colorbars (which showed not halo'ing, but blurry chroma). Changed wording from "anything" to "anything useful".

ok I understand!
here is the link for my file:

the problem is, if you read it with powerdvd or DGindex, you won't see the green halo (at least I don't see it)
You have to write it on a DVD-R or RW and read it on a standalone DVD player.

Maybe it's your player or screen then. Did you test it on a different setup?

It could be a problem with changing the Luma-Ranges. For example with R.601 the dark parts show on a PC-screen dark, but on a TV-screen as grey (and gree a color). But in any case, i don't think avisynth or any of the Plugins you used inserted this to your video. I'm sure it was before there or is inserted after in DVD-Player or Display.

I can see the green halos. But indeed, it isn't noticable from still frames. I have no idea what causes this. Perhaps the way the colors "cover" each other when the edges are moving when playing the video. Something like if you move a blue thing in front of a yellow thing, the edges may appear green to our eyes, despite the fact there's no green anywhere.

What display is your standalone DVD player connected to?
If it's an LCD screen it's quite possible that your "halo" is created by the display itself - my 17" TFT monitor creates such halos when something red moves across a green background simply because changing from red back to green takes ages on it...
EDIT: Looking at your sample, there's quite a bit of bloom around the people standing/moving in front of the windows - are you sure that isn't what you're seeing? It could be that it's more visible on your TV than on your monitor if your monitor doesn't differentiate very bright parts well...

Dear all,
I closed my post in the other place (sorry for the rule 8, I didn't remember it)
I post my clip here:

If you can help me to remove the green halo during motion, I will be very happy!
thanks

I finaly found the problem (I think so, at least).
First:
If you look at the film image by image or at slow speed, there is no green halo but only a "big blur" along the shape of contrasty elements in quick motion, due to the poor encoding bitrate (only 2800 kbits).
You can only see the green halo at normal speed and not everybody is able to see it.
Explanation:
Every plasma or LCD has different timing in the way they switch on/off the R,G and B elements. The green is usually slower. So depending of the situation (black element running on white background or the reverse), you will have a green halo in front of, or at the rear of the element in motion.
And depending of the thickness of the initial blur you will see the green halo or not (that is why you won't see it on good commercial movies with high bitrate).
In addition, some people don't see the green tint because their eyes "are slower" (like the rainbow effect with DLP).

Yeah, that sounds quite like what I said above... ;)

the question is how to reduce the thickness of the blur around the shape of fast moving element?
Is there any specific plugin for this purpose?
(I already use awarsharp for color bleeding but it change nothing for the problem mentionned above)
