I doubt that I'll ever make any of my programs in CLI mode.
I'm still working TEMP folder removal...

Hey Dean, what do you think is a good method in the meantime to handle those videos that are larger? I've got a few 12 gb movies that I want to put on 4.7 gb dvd's (I have a ton of them)...Also, I noticed that the 2nd volume when splitting into 2 volumes, it wasn't bluray format but avchd format even though the first volume was bluray format. If that makes any sense. In other words, there were some of the folders missing that are needed to play on my bluray player like auxdata, etc... but only in the 2nd volume. Is that a bug with the program?

Hello,
first of all thanks for this excellent tool !
I have experienced that the 1st DVD can't be played in my Panasonic BD-80 blueray player when I process a ts file which needs splitting over two AVCHD DVDs. The player simply stops at the begin. The 2nd DVD works fine. I have found out, that it is tmuxer who produces this result when splitting. When I split the ts file before into two chunks and use popBD for each file it works fine for both DVDs.
Anyone else with this behaviour?

Do you split it using Time CUT START/CUT END?
Töpfer_0815

I've split it with popBD's setting "volume split".

I was asking about tsmuxer split.

I was asking about tsmuxer spil.
I've assumed, that popBD uses tsmuxer for splitting. That's the reason I have mentioned tsmuxer here. I've just used popBD for the whole thing.
When I split before using popBD I've used tsH264split - this worked fine.

Ok, oh... I thought you were using tsMuxeR to split it before using popBD. Yes, popBD uses tsMuxeR.
There are some changes coming this/next week so I hope all will be okay in version 1.0.

Thanks, I'll report about the result.
Would it be possible to support the usage of mpls to get the original chapter marks to the two target BD5/9/25? Moreover it would be good if the split between the two disks/parts could be done on a chapter mark automatically by the tool to fit the target disk size or you could allow the user to define a time where the split will be done instead of Memory size like TsMuxer supports this.

I just tried it today and it seems a marvellous piece of work.
But I've found a problem for me and don't know if it's because of your program or the ones it uses. Maybe there's a simple solution and you can lead me to it. I want to keep Spanish subtitles, but whenever it finds letters like ñ, Ñ á, ó, é, í ú, Ú, Ó, É, Í, it doesn't recognize them and represents them with strange characters. ¿Is there a way to correct this?
I'd really appreciate it any advice you or other could give me.
Thank you and regards
Wolfe :)

Try to set your windows for non-unicode programs.
Go to Regional settings and find the option to chose spanish for 'default for non-unicode programs'.

Thanx for your prompt answer, Dean.
I went to check what you said (I'm using windows 7 x64 RC 7100) and it was already set with Spanish for non-unicode programs.
Now it's almost 4 a.m. and I'm falling over. I'm gonna sleep and tomorrow when I come back hope I'm lucky enough for you to have find the solution to this.
Thank you very much

Wolfe :)

A note to all popBD users:
I'll try to implement popBD's splitting feature in multiAVCHD (Volume split).
It won't be restricted span-count-wise, so you'll be able to split 14GB file into 3-4 DVD5 discs for example.
Using multiAVCHD will allow you to have more control and tons of options, not available in popBD.
Panasonic users will benefit, too, because they'll be able to watch 8+GB or 16+GB or 50GB files in their players (using SDHC).
I'm not saying that I'll end support for popBD, but it may very well be the case if multiAVCHD extends it's features to replace popBD.

Thanks Dean, my post a few weeks back about volume splitting and issues on the Panasonic BD35 blu ray player was essentially about the same issue - that volume splitting seemed to work only on certain players, and probably due to the issue raised by Topfler(sp?).
My earlier post mentions that multiAVCHD has issues when i tried to "force" a split, but did work on a single volume when i manually edited the various files that set the first track to play and such. Hopefully your next set(s) of changes resolve these things, but i would hope that you still retain popDB (in its corrected/patched format) as an offshoot to multiAVCHD as its a lot simpler and direct to use for most conversion jobs.
I really like multiAVCHD. Its a clean app. But for a almost single click solition popBD rocks.
You do great work bro.

First of all a big THANKS to deank for his great tools.
OK now.. just to make that perfectly clear:
It is NOT possible to take a MKV with a resolution of 1280x688p, run it through popBD, burn it to DVD and play it back on my standalone Samsung 1600 BD-player because of the missing black borders??
Do I really have to re-encode with uncropMKV every single MKV which has a cropped picture (removed black borders) before feeding it to popBD?? I certainly hope not.. :(
Sorry for that kinda noob question and thanks in advance for your answers.

You need to encode to compliant resolutions like 1280x720, 1920x1080, 720x480 or 720x576

English AC3 640 kbps
I use the default options that came with the popBD, and the result of the process was burned into a single DVD5.
I tested with my BDP-S550 I works perfect, amazing quality,.. and no problems with the reproduction,.. and the subtitles works perfect too....
I ll gonna make a few more test and post it the results here to let u know how its works.

The software seem sooo close to working, but it isn't quite there. I do get two directories that can be written to DVD's. The problem is, it doesn't compress the movie to those two DVD's (which I actually don't want anyway) In the temp directories, there are other movie files, but these aren't in a format that I can write to a DVD and play in a blueray.
While it might not be the best form, I'm glad that NWG posted a link to a program that worked. I have been looking for something to produce AVCHD disks, and there are all sorts of programs out there, but that one works great, is fast and does exactly what I want 1:1 blue ray to AVCHD.
I'd love to support folks providing freeware, but I needed something that works....
Your milage may varry.

I think it is time to start this project from scratch...
Next version I'm preparing is going to get all the compatibility achieved by multiAVCHD (except HD-DVD), without the menu part and having the output split to as many DVDs/USBs/SDHCs as one may want.

A quick note for the users of popBD - as I posted back in september, it is now possible to split an output to many volumes (1000 is a good number I think), but not in popBD.
I was spending some time this afternoon, thinking how to implement the cool popBD feature into multiAVCHD... And I did it...
multiAVCHD now supports splitting the output up to 1000 volumes. What does it mean? It means that you can use multiAVCHD as you did before, but if you use only ONE file ([f] mode) or playlist ([m] / [p] modes or DVD title [d] or Audio title [a]) you'll get the option to split the output in volumes.
It will be available in build 732.

hi deank and others, i was linked to this thread while searching on the best way to do this..
I have a bluray burner and BDR25GB discs, dual layers are still pricey.
I have only 1080P MKVs
I want to burn 2 of these MKVs on 1 BD25 disc so they are compatible with ps3 and other bluray players
Is your software the best bet to do this task.
I only always read about people burning them on DVDs.
If my files are complaint 1920 x 1080p there is no encoding involved?
thanks in advance.

I'd suggest that you use multiAVCHD. It supports VOLUME SPLITTING (for up to 1000 volumes) and won't reencode your files.
Set the SPLIT size to 23000 in the AUTHOR tab and once you click 'START' you'll see an option for volume splitting.

As stated in his last post here:
I'd suggest that you use multiAVCHD.
Although mAVCHD hasn't been updated in a while, it does everything it was designed to do.
