Hi guys, can anyone tell me if XviD will be re-released for stable High Def. encoding at all? Any news on the grape vine? :helpful:

You can any Xvid for any resolution, there is no limitaton, and is very stable.

But I wouldn't recommend it. Everything is moving to AVC now, and DivX 7 is going to democratize it greatly.

Yep, I would only recommend XviD for HD encoding if you REALLY can't use H.264, for decoding or device compatibility issues.
There's no need to re-release it, since everybody is moving on to AVC, so...

I've used XviD to get HD playback on machines that can't cope with x264 HD decoding, and had no problems at all. I think I used AVIdemux to encode.

Did you use proper container like mkv/mp4 and not avi? because you must use OpenDML AVI?

I've used XviD to get HD playback on machines that can't cope with x264 HD decoding, and had no problems at all.Me too...

Any encodes over 2Gb were muxed into the .MP4 container ;)
