Is there any QAM enabled software that allows you to record like an intelligent human being anymore? Remember back in the day when you would shove a VHS tape in your recorder, flip on the game, hit play and record at the same time and then PAUSE when they go to commercial and then UNPAUSE when they come back? So in the end, what you have is an efficient recording with commercials completely cut out.
My gripe is that my AIW 9000 PRO and the kick ass "TV" (8.9 and below) software which allowed me to completely turn off timeshifting as well as manually record, pause and unpause recordings, is now sub-standard. Especially since Comcast decided to kill their analogue cable signal which is fine with me as I bought an ATI 650 tuner awhile back. I use the latest Beyond TV software which works well aside from the fact that you're assed out when trying to have any control over your recording. You hit record and the output file is retro active to the earliest point. You can't pause, you can't even start the recording where you want. Pretty lame.
I tried Sage and GBPVR awhile back, I don't remember whether or not they featured the capability that I am after. Anyone know of a QAM capture app (preferably non-bloated) which will allow me to pause and unpause and start recording when I actually hit RECORD? This is pretty basic feature I'm looking for here. It's pretty pathetic that Beyond TV has to act like a soccer Mom's Tivo 24/7. I'm also not trying to use the Smartskip and showsqueeze, my output file needs to be ready to compress and burn with other video files as data. I like to record basketball games while I watch them. Hit pause at commercial and halftime, convert the output file to Xvid and burn several individual games onto DVD.
