I have a Motorola DCT (the model number under the cable box info page says its model DCT at least) from Comcast.

I keep running out of space, so I have two quetions.

1. Is there any way to get recorded video OUT of this thing without basically hooking it up to a capture card/dvd recorder and recording it analog? I noticed it has several USB and eSATA ports, is there any way to extract the saved video files?

2. Would it be possible, and legal, to upgrade the harddrive this player uses? I am assuming I can't just put in a new drive as it likely has to be formatted in a specific way, and probably needs specific files present on it as well, possibly even a filesystem that standard pcs cannot read.

1. http://exdeus.home.comcast.net/~exdeus/stbfirewire/

2. Assuming you are only renting the box from Comcast, it would most certainly be a violation of your Comcast Agreement to open, let alone alter, it.
