Backups on PGCedit v 9.2

It seems that backups do not work!?
After a few fiddles I noted there were three backup folders.
So I tried 'Restore backup' twice and noted no change in the DVD structure -- the new VTS for "Import First Play Intro" was still present and Explorer also showed no change.
So I simply copied (overwrote) the oldest VOB, IFO/BUP files into VIDEO_TS. It now works (looks correct in PGCedit).

Second problem: there were no old (original) BUP files, so they probably differ from the IFOs!

Is this a bug?

Restore Backup restores the most recent backup, but doesn't remove it. It's like an undo of your most recent changes.
If you want to restore an older backup, you have to use Undo Last Incremental Backup. Note that this option destroys the current backup, and replaces it with the most recent backup with a date in the filename. Also, it warns you if it finds a more recent backup created by another app (such as VobBlanker or FixVTS.)

The bup files are not restored. Just save the DVD after having restored the backup to recreate them. This is necessary anyway, as if some VOBs have changed, the VTS pointers must be recomputed.

My initial concern was the BUP files that I assume should be the same as the IFOs. Since the BUPs in the PgcEdit_backup folder had a more recent date I took this to mean they had been changed by PGCedit. On reading rOlZ's comment I checked the backup for other discs and they had only IFO files?! I cannot understand how I got the BUPs in the backup folders!

I had previously read the Help section but found it a bit confusing. I had looked under Options > Input/Ouput and noted that "Creat backup when DVD is opened for the first time?" was checked, by default. Only for the first time? No mention of switching on Incemental Backups? Then, for File menu, Help says "backups will be done when required" yet: "Remember to do incremental backups when ...".

While fiddling with the current DVD I was not doing anything I thought I would undo, so I just carried on. Then, wishing to do a Restore, I hit File > Restore backup. Since I had not tried 'File > New incremental backup' myself, I never thought to try 'Restore incremental backup'. So, when the first restore was not enough I did it again. Nothing. So, I examined the folders in Explorer and found the various backup folders, dated. So may PgCedit had done its job and had created incremenatl backups itself (so, why would I create one manually?).

But seeing the BUP files with more recent dates threw me!
Anyway I shall tread carefully from now on and observe!

Some incremental backups are made automatically when PgcEdit executes a potentially dangerous operation, and when the VTS must be re-ordered (as the old backups are not suitable any more, since the files have been renamed.) They are not made on a regular basis. Of course, you can do your own incremental backups when you are not sure of what you are doing.

If PGCedit does not backup BUP files and the disc then operates on IFO files that differ, could this cause a problem?
I assume BUPs are meant to be copies in case the IFOs are faulty?

Right. The BUP files are exact backup copies of the IFO files. It's why they don't need to be saved in the backup folders. When the backup is restored, the IFOs are copied over the BUPs.

Note also that PgcEdit loads always the IFOs (unless an IFO file is damaged or cannot be opened), but it saves the modifications to the IFOs and BUPs.
