sorry ,to post same question again.
I searched the forum but could not find the answer .all forums says Xvid is video codec not audio codec , therefore no audio issue should arise.
here is a brief discussion of problem faced.
Hardware details
core2duo E6300 1.8 GHz
RAM 1G. Intel 946Gzis MB,Intel on board GMA300 graphic accelerator.
Windows Xp sp3 fully patched. Samsung DVD RW
recently I received a movie which when played, only audio could be listened, By clicking on webHelp provided by WMP 9.0 series(WMP 11 is not installed) I cam to know it need xVID codec so I downloaded it(.Version 1.1.3-27042008) and played the movie.
after reading the FAQ on site i opened the mplayer2 to check the properties of codec.
No problem was faced till now.
Now again opening the movie in windows media player resulted in no sound
reinstallation didn't solved the problem.
however the audio was present when codec were removed.
on checking the properties of file it says mpeg-layer3 audio and xVID codec.
the sound could only be restored by running direct-x diagonstic.
however there was no sound again when player was started in limited user account.
solution was like this first start mplayer2 from RUN command or run direct-x diagnostics each time.
did a little bit googled and then downloaded a recent version (1.2.1-4122008) problem still continued
so i decided to post in this forum of Experts where someone knows the solution and cause behind it.
In the mean time I uninstalled xVid and used sytem restore to go back and have installed divX 6.8.5 with no issue.
my question is can xVID and DivX br installed side by side without any problem, will they conflict and how to prevent sound issue from resurfacing again.
I am sorry for such a long post but frankly I am a true newbei as i didnot know much abut codec
