Why?
Video needs some basic editing (trim, cut, re-assemble the resulting parts):
tsMuxeR does not accept the WMV.
-> Error message "Unsupported format:
-- Can't detect streamtype..."
TSPE does not accept WMV but should process it if remuxed to TS.

Please help.

I don't think transport streams support wma2 audio, at least I've never seen any

Another approach would be to use asfbin (the older 1.5 gui based version works better IMO), then use WMVAppendGUI to join the fragments. You have to know the cut timepoints, no visual preview, so you could mark the timepoints in a media player, for example. asfbin will export .asf but you can rename to .wmv

@Cela

Hi!

Surely, you can go back to the original source material from which you created the WMV video, and convert it to .TS or .M2TS...

... Surely, you can go back to the original source material from which you created the WMV video, and convert it to .TS or .M2TS... Sounds promising, but unfortunately, is no option for me.

I guess, I will have to ask a different question (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1254754#post1254754) and go back to what I really need.

Thanks for your efforts to help!

@cela,

You're going to have difficulty if you are unable re-rip to a different format. Can you clarify as to why you are unable to rerip?
Thanks.

You're going to have difficulty if you are unable re-rip to a different format...Is there really no WMV-Editor available which could do for WMV what Mpeg2Schnitt or Cuttermaran does for mpeg2 for free: multi-file, multi-EDL frame-accurate cut, merge, append with some basic audio and video effects (fade, audio delay correction, etc.)? Why does M$ provide excellent codecs and forget about editing?

...Can you clarify as to why you are unable to rerip?I can't re-rip because I do not rip! My Syabas NMT Popcorn Hour A-110 ( PCH (http://www.syabas.com/press.html) )plays these WMV9-HD streams on my flatscreen in excellent, brilliant quality. That is why I prefer WMV over h.264. Last, but not least, TotalRecorder_Video Add-on (http://www.totalrecorder.com/versions_history_addons.htm) does a better job in HQ recording to WMV than editing. Crazy, isn't it?
I was looking for a "semi-final" format for recording, storing and watching with PCH. In the sense, that apart from basic editing, some 99% of a recording may already serve as final product, without needing any re-encoding, conversion, or any avs-calculations. AVI formats remind me to Lombart Street, very crooky, slow and space consuming, and beyond my capabilities and ambitions. I am and want to remain primarily a user not to be forced to become an expert. Maybe I have to wait until the TR-people will improve the editing capabilities of their product.

Thanks to you all for your efforts to help me!

I can't re-rip because I do not rip! OK. Then where did you get the WMV file?

@cela as i posted in the other topic windows media encoder come with an editor witch let you cut .wmvs (Windows Media File Editor - installed with Windows Media Encoder) witch is free...for merge .wmvs use:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144779

or asfbin...

Then where did you get the WMV file?I experiment with TotalRecorder_Video Add-on (http://www.totalrecorder.com/versions_history_addons.htm) and look for a better way of editing the recorded wmv files than is already provided in the Add-in.

@ b66pak, click2, Placio74
Many thanks for your inspiring recommendations! :)

Findings after initial testing are listed in the other thread.

I suggest, we close this thread: No success to convert WMV to TS.
