Jesus!! I feel I didn't write a line here for years!
I having problems using Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1.
I can not see any subtitle at all when I try to play a DVD, not from the DVD-ROM nor from the Hard Disk importing the VIDEO_TS.IFO
I go to Navigate/Subtitle Language... the sub is selected and enabled but nothing to see.
Some ideas why is this happening?

Have you tried the latest version of Media Player Classic Home Cinema?

Yes (actually I have both) and MPC-HC doesn't show the subs either and it has problem with the picture too. see the pictures:

As you see, MPC shows the picture right, but in either cases, no subs.
Also... MPC-HC has no sound.

Enable the internal MPEG-2 decoder.
