Hi,
I am using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15. The Analysis and Backup finished.
I wanted to play the backup in the bottom left window but the all the buttons are ghosted.

How do I enable those playback buttons ?

Tks

Hi!

Are you sure you're not actually talking about the "PREVIEW" window?

If so, look for the required setting by clicking on the "Edit" dropdown menu, then clicking on "Preferences", then clicking on the "Preview" tab - and putting a checkmark next to "Enable video and audio preview" - then click on the "OK" radiobutton...

The "PREVIEW" window works. That is the one that pops up during 'Analysis'. I am referring to the bottom left corner of the DVD Shrink GUI where you can stop/play the backup. That stop/play buttons are all Ghosted. In the Preference field---Preview tab---the button is checked.

BTW, this is a new install on a new computer so I am comparing this install with another install I have and can't seem to see any difference except that the new DVD Shrink install has those button ghosted.

Any tips ?

Kindly do as I've suggested (and then load a DVD, click on "Main Movie") - rather than presuming that I'm wrong...

Hi,
I am hoping this screen shot would help state my problem. Sorry I was not implying you were wrong.

I am showing both the PREVIEW tab setting, also selecting MAIN MOVIE and the lower left corner of the screen has the STOP and PLAY button still ghosted. Even if I pick, Menus, Extras, Main Movie...same problem.

setarip_old's answer is what you need to do.

Try expanding the Main Movie object then select one of the titles inside that, you will then be able to preview the title.

Hi dat720,
I tried that and no luck. I even selected the Extras or Menus. Somehow, none of these turns the PLAY/STOP buttons on. I have this problem on one PC but not on my other desktop or laptop so this has puzzled me for the longest. During the "Analysis" mode, I could select/de-select the preview button and I could see the movie flash by but once the analysis is complete and backup is complete, the PLAY/STOP button (see snapshot above) remains ghosted.

What was your source for this problematic version of DVD Shrink?

Is the problematic system runnjng the same O/S as the other two machines?

Is it the same source for the versions you're running on the other two machines?

Without sounding rude... cant you live with that?
Previewing in a tiny window is not overly useful, just use mplayer or vlc to preview the final backup and besides after you have done the backup your are still previewing the source, not the backup, so i can't see how this is really useful for you anyway.

It's quite possibly something bizarre with your Windows install that may not be able to be resolved without reinstalling Windows, problems like this are quite often not caused by the software itself, but other issues on the system.

I work on a help desk and one of the common problems we get in our enviroment is caused by a completly seperate software package than the one the user is experiencing problems with.

The 2 desktop and 1 laptop are all running XP SP2.
The version of DVDShrink is the same for all 3. I know where you are going with your question and this may be a weird hardware difference between the two box. Hard for me to believe but it seems that way.

At this point (also going back to the question from dat720). I will live with this problem since it is not stopping me from doing my backup. It is just annoying that such a good tool has a feature I cannot use in one of my system.

If I fix this, I will come back to this thread and spell out my solution.

Tks so much for looking into this.

I hear you dat720. I will not get hung up on this issue but if I solve it, I may post it back here. Most likely a hardware or OS problem at my end.

Tks so much for all your good points.
