1) I have latest build (r4609) here, but where is my option to encode AC3 (Aften)?
2) DVD (lavc) vs DVD (mpeg2enc) = which? pros and cons?
3) Format = mpeg-ps or mpeg-ts? I'm sorry, I don't really understand the difference?
Yes, my primary goal is to encode to DVD-5 format. I know how to mux with Muxman and burn with ImgBurn.
Avidemux seems like a really slick piece of software! I want to stick my head in it!

You may be better off with the Avidemux 2.4.4 milestone build. The 2.5 series is in an early state right now.
Also it appears Aften is not available in Avidemux 2.5 yet. If you really want to use 2.5, then you must select "AC3 (lavc)" instead of Aften...
DVD (lavc) vs DVD (mpeg2enc) = which? pros and cons?
It's just two different encoders for the same format (MPEG-2).
Use the one that will be selected when you run "Auto" -> "DVD" or do your own test...
According to Mean, the recommendation is as follows:
* 2 pass -> lavcodec
* One pass -> mpeg2enc
Format = mpeg-ps or mpeg-ts? I'm sorry, I don't really understand the difference?
PS = Program Stream, TS = Transport Stream.
TS is for broadcasting, where packet loss is to be expected. PS is for local media, like Video-DVD.

OK, I'm back! I just tried converting a 2-part Xvid file to DVD (using Avidemux 2.4.4 version). I used DVD (lavc 2-pass) and used AC3 (Aften), and used the mpeg2-PS format as instructed above. The source files were Xvid with mp3 audio. I loaded up the first part, and appended the second. When I skimmed through it, it previewed in sync. But after the conversion completed, audio was out of sync!?
Any ideas?
:thanks:
