I used GK years ago with much success, then just stopped the whole encoding videos thing. I'm trying to get back into it, I set up GK for xvid according to this site, but in the final encoding stage all it is doing is creating an .avs file, even though it says it created an .avi file in 0 seconds. I dont recall GK doing that before, it just encoded the AVI file. What did I miss?

It's not a file folder thing as everything is being placed in the same part of the tree.

Never used AutoGK so can't really help there, how ever there are several new programs around that do a good job...
Look at MeGUI and AVIDemux in particular, i personally do all my encoding with command line tools (mencoder and ffmpeg) but when i'm feeling lazy i use AVIDemux it works very well and has profiles for various devices.
