They play fine on DVD and look great. but on Blu-ray they are recognized as DVD+R rather than DVD-Video. Original DVD looks fine on blu-ray. copies look pixelated or blurry.
Any ideas??

What exactly are you doing?
For example, this sentence:
Original DVD looks fine on blu-ray
...makes no sense.
Blu-ray != DVD.
Are you backing up your DVD files to Blu-ray disks? If so, WHY? It's way more expensive!
In short, please reiterate exactly what you are trying to achieve.

@DisneyDad
Hi!
I'm guessing you've omitted the word "player", a few of times, in your post - e.g. DVD player and BluRay player.
Chances are, your BluRay player is connected via component cables, rather than via HDMI - and, as a consequence, is playing the original, commercial, pressed DVDs at 480p resolution. Yet (ironic, I know) that same setup will allow for upscaling/upconverting of burned DVDs to as much as 1080i resolution.
While upscaling/upconverting is a wonderful concept, some players (particularly, some BluRay players) do a lousy job of it.
If possible, in "Setup" mode, set your BluRay player to 480p - and see if your burned DVDs look better...

Thanks, I figured it out myself.. Though yes setarip_old, it has to do with upscaling.. doesnt handle compression well.
