View Full Version : NLE on 64-bit vista premium

I'm purchasing a new PC which I hope to use for my video editing. I'm looking at a Dell XPS Intel Core i7-920 Processor running Vista Premium 64-bit, with 6gb of RAM. Does anybody know if the there are good nle editing applications that work well on vista 64-bit?
I use a wide array of video source files, including AVI files recorded with a Canon Elf, mini DV files, and XVID files.
I currently use Pinnacle Studio on an XP dual core machine with 2gb ram.

I'm a big, big fan of Sony Vegas, and coincidentally, I believe it's the only NLE available in a native 64 bit version.

Be warned, though: plugin filters designed for use with the 32 bit version don't work on the 64.

Premiere CS4 is also availabe for x86-64.

Vegas fan too, btw EDIUS (http://desktop.grassvalley.com/products/EDIUS/) works on 64-bit OSes too.

You can download a free version of Sony Vegas Pro 8.1 64 bit if you have Vegas 8.0. It will keep 8.0 for you too just in case you'd like to do some 32 bit editing.

I've tried it out a bit and so far it works great. I think you need 64 bit codec videos to import. I haven't tried 32 bit ones yet but I'm sure it wouldn't work right.
