Merging SAA7134 & ADCV100

I get better capture quality from an SAA7134 based capture card, but have problems capturing audio, so I decided to merge the audio from an ADVC100 and the video from the SAA7134 using frame matching.

The problem is that the SAA7134 (with Dscaler4) captures at exactly 30fps, whilst the ADVC100 captures at 29.97fps. When I try to match frames, of course one of them starts to drift.

I've also tried trimming both video files to the same start and end frame and then creating a new avi with Virtualdub by importing the wav audio, but it detects a mismatch in duration and wants to set an arbitrary frame rate.

Is there some way to force Dscaler4 to capture at the same rate as the ADVC100? I can't see why they would capture at different rates from the same source in the first place.

Cant you process the audio by modifing the framerate to 30.00? Or the other way around, but that is more time-consuming cause of the reencoding of the video. You can also use avisynth to open both, setting framerates, and merge the two together and reencode; But then you have to reencode the video again. But you might be able to improve compression in the same step (going to a better encoder, or another format like H264).

For audio only modification, I think eac3to might help, since it has options to change framerates :)

Do not capture video with DScaler. It simply isn't suited to do it properly.

User VirtualVCR to capture your videos.
VirtualVCR also offers ver very good A/V-sync feature and accurate framerates.

I'd prefer not to process the original audio capture.

I used Dscaler4 because it has options to set the SAA7134 parameters at a detailed level, which I don't think is supported by VirtualVCR.

Audio captured by the ADVC100 seems to be the best on my setup, so I don't need the A/V sync features: just the ability to capture the same number of video frames in each application.

I'll give VirtualVCR a go.

VirtualVCR latest download keeps crashing on startup under XP SP2.

Is there any other software that will capture video only from a SAA7134 under XP?
