I read that they were working on one about 2 years ago now, but I haven't seen its light of day yet. Were they ever working on one? Or did I get my wires crossed :p

Most of the people I know who worked on Xvid went on to do other things. Skal is at Google, Syskin seems to be out of video coding stuff for the moment, etc.

I've seen some stuff suggesting the few others got bought out and are doing some stuff related to MPEG-4 hardware encoding or something.

On to a different question to do with audio encoding in GK.

If I'm encoding AC3 2.0 to MP3 should I always check (Azid) -L -3db -s stereo -c normal and also add a OTA gain (like HybridGain) as well? Or does that actually add an unnecessary step? Or is it 100% correct?

I never really cared for transcoding AC3 to MP3, but since it's only for The Hills DVD's and is only 2 channel AC3.

Thanks.

That's way OT for this thread. Read and follow our forum rules, please.

I didn't think it warranted a completely new thread and since I started this thread already. I would've thought it was a pretty straight forward and a quick yes or no answer. Most people would probably know the answer. If anyone wanted to answer, then all good.

No answers, no problems, I would've just let the thread die as the answer is not imperative or that important anyway.

But thank you for your post.
