I have a problem when I try to use AutoGK for DVD rip of single chapters from a DVD.
Instead of a single chapter, I get an AVI file of the entire DVD.
Can somebody enlighten me what am I doing wrong?
Software used:
- AutoGK 2.55
- DVD Decrypter
- DivX Codec 6.8.5

I use the following steps:
1. Back up a DVD with DVD Decrypter (File mode)
2. Start AutoGK
3. Load input file: I select an appropriate IFO file (ie VTS_02_0.ifo)
4. AutoGK brings forward a »Select PGC« window saying: Several PGCs were found in the IFO file. Please select one of the following PGCs: Then there is a drop down window, where the first PGC is »play all chapters, ie lenght 2:00:00«, and following are individual chapters/PGS 2-9 with their individual lenghts, ie 0:25:00).
5. Then I select Output file, Output size, Codec, Add job & Start job.

However instead of the selected PGC5 with the size of 0:25:00, I get a full 2:00:00 AVI file (all PGC lined one after another in single AVI).

It seems like the PGC select doesnt work properly.

Can anyone please help?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
1. Back up a DVD with DVD Decrypter (File mode)

Decrypt each PGC separately using DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode.
It seems like the PGC select doesnt work properly.

It doesn't work at all. But once you know how to decrypt properly, problem solved.

How are you guys defeating the newer copy protections when using DVD Decrypter?

Of course, you can't. You use DVDFab HD Decrypter when newer copy protections are in place, perhaps followed by a run through FixVTS. My earlier answer was for decrypting episodic discs, and I don't know of any with newer copy protections. In any event, if there are some DVDFab HD Decrypter (perhaps followed by FixVTS), and then get the individual PGCs (episodes) using PGCDemux (or DVD Shrink?).

Thank you manono, using the workaround through decrypting in IFO Mode worked.

The other workaround is to split the AVI after the complete DVD has been backed up in a single file, however I often get sync issues with sound in later episodes on the DVD. First ones are ok, but then the sync discrepancy can be as big as 2 seconds.

Do you have any insight when the "Select PGC" functionality will be enabled in AutoGK?
It seems a pretty common feature in other DVD2AVI tools I have tested.

Never? :) I think it has to do with AutoGK's reliance on DGIndex, and splitting using it is nearly impossible. I think. But len0x (and neuron2) know way more about that than do I.

No, it's up to us, the users, to prepare the VOBs properly for AutoGK to use.
