ripping streaming video - need news clip "extracted" from website

These people are freaking geniuses at hiding the actual video content buried under links and clutter - I've spent the last 2 hours trying to turn the streaming video into a saveable file I can save on my hard drive, just to archive it for when the websites go down. Tried everything from VLC, substituting "mss" for "html", checking my Temporary Internet Files, using Firefox "about:cache" function, viewing HTML source, and freaking NOTHING!!! *tears out hair* This is bugging the heck out of me - can anyone help?!

I'm guessing that the website owners' "Terms of Agreement" state that you're not entitled to do anything other than view the streaming video...

These people are freaking geniuses...Yup, and they apparently need to be, these days, to protect themselves from thieves (who don't respect copyright laws).

Is downloading streaming media against the rules for discussion here? Does it make a difference whether it's "protected" or not? To what level? (e.g. hidden in an swf vs 128-bit encryption etc). I ask sincerely. I want to know.

I know about rule 6. Before you ask, no, it's not clear. If you decrypt a DVD you may be "illegally obtain(ing) copyrighted content", yet that is widely discussed here.

So, where is the line drawn?

I can confirm replay media capture works (unfortunately not free)

Orbit with grab++ will detect the proper address and .flv but will not proceed to download it

interesting! I'm using grab++ right now and got close, but no cigar.....best I could come up with is this:
