First of all, sorry if this lands in the wrong forum. Wasn't really sure on where to put this. Second of all, I did some sniffing around but really haven't gotten any wiser so I thought I would just ask here.

On some blurays you have multiple versions of a movie. What I would like to do is, put those different versions in 1 .mkv without making 2 or in my case 3 video and audio streams. Now I know it's a matter of getting all the unique parts from the different versions of the movie but that's my problem. How to go about extracting those and then making the versions available afterwords in the .mkv.

If this has been asked before, then sorry for me asking again and yeah, you can shoot me (but please do it in the leg :) )

It's like "Seamless Branching", known from DVDs like Star Wars or Bladerunner Collectors Edition.

IMHO it's not an encoder option, it's a container feature. And I don't know features of mkv very well.
Haven't heard of a free solution.

Yeah, I think this is doable with .mkv, but then this needs to be over in the container section of the forum.

Yes. I was thinking about it that way. That's why I mentionned the getting the unique parts :)

eac3to lists the m2ts files that need to be used for both the versions so I think the option is to make sure the video streams has all the parts needed. Then it's simply a question of getting the parts back together in the .mkv.:)

Yes it's doable. infact, I've seen it. I just have trouble to figure out all the details.
