Internal blu-ray player (for computer) or external for tv

Hey, I'm wanting to get a blu-ray player for my TV right, but their dam expensive... The lowest one is a ps3 right? So I was thinking maybe I could buy one of those 150$ blu-ray drives for my computer, and play blu-rays through that, and use a DVI-HDMI cable to connect to my TV

my question is, is there anything different the normal blu ray players do than the blu-ray drive for a computer...

Yes, you have to mess around with a lot of buggy software and drivers.

Many BD Roms for computers come with software to play BD Discs (such as Power DVD for example). However, you do need to check a couple things first.

1. Your TV is HDCP compliant. If it is not, you'll have to purchase AnyDVD HD and have it running while playing the discs.
2. Go to the following link:

Running the Cyberlink HD advisor will ensure that both your CPU and graphics card are up to the task of playing BDs. IMO, even if you need to purchase AnyDVD and an Internal Blu-Ray rom for your computer, you're still spending less than the majority of stand-alone Blu-Ray players.

Now, the PS3 is also great because not only can the firmware be updated, but you can play games too! It's a give and take, but for my money, an Internal rom is totally worth it (plus i have a 360 already) :P

I would go for the PS3, have one myself only for playback of all kinds of video formats and stuff, and for bluray :)
