Interesting low bitrate settings for anime?

I'd like to compress some 300MB The Simpson's episodes at 350kbps 2-pass x264 (video track bitrate only).
I found on a guide that keyframe boost and b-frames reduction should be raised while encoding anime.
Should I need other tweaks?

The only thing you should "raise" when encoding anime, really, is refs.

By Keyframe boost and bframe reduction, he was probably speaking of ipratio and pbratio.
I keep the defaults to encode anime, i never try to change them so i can't say.
But for increasing quality of low detailed anime, disabling psy-optimisations (--psy-rd 0:0 and --aq-mode 0) helps a LOT

I thought AQ didn't hurt anime? Psy trellis and RD should definitely be turned off.

Might I ask why you are playing with 300mb files? That seems really non-standard. You will get much better quality and compression if you use your source (DVD).

Using this kind of settings, I am encoding at 100fps on an e5200. They should be used with a 19'' lcd, the quality is nice with my settings, but I am sure that I could improve it.

They are not very low quality anime, the source is about 2Mbps dvb-t (dvx encoding).

Nice. I noticed that the edges weren't sharp.

A friend did it for me before leaving, so I can't use the dvd atm :(

seems like klite uses the vfw version of x264, in order to have avidemux support, which isn't supported on this forum. I am supposed to close the thread discussion, then.
