Since I don't feel like coding on StaxRip much in the future I want to move the project to SourceForge hoping good programmers joining the development effort. I'm looking for somebody who has experience with SourceForge to create a StaxRip project there.

Hey I can setup a sourceforge space and upload to svn but I am no good at coding.
Been to long since I've done any it wont really compare close to your expertise.
Hope you find some people... I know the developer of ASXGui has some skill in VB might try dropping him a line.
He doesn't have any experience in Sourceforge either.

I don't have any SourceForge experience, but I am slowly learning Visual Basic. I may be able to help the new devs in the near future, but currently I am not good enough. Good luck with finding new devs though!

So I can get the source and the files uploaded. If you want to be a developer your free to do so... The only requirement is you need to learn how to use the SVN.
I would need access to the Beta Sources because it would be the working Trunk.

@Ajax_Undone
Thanks, but I am nowhere near good enough with VB to actually work on StaxRip.

Figured I'd give it a try...

Hello,
Can we expect some life in the near future regarding Staxrip please ?
It's really sad to see such a great tool go to dust, If only I had the experience...:(

I'd be willing to do some development work on StaxRip. Was one of my first GUIs, and favorite one, which it still is.
StaxRip uses C# correct? I need to learn C# for a SA job next semester, so this would be great way to get working on it.
Edit: Disregard above statement. Saw it uses VB.Net. I still know how to use VB though, and I'd be willing to do programming in it for StaxRip still though.

That'd be great Sagekilla ! :)
BTW, heard anything about Stax lately ? Is he still interested in updating is own (great) program himself too ?:)

I sent him a PM recently, but I've yet to hear from him yet unfortunately. I'm currently in the process of trying to get the project loaded on my system for development though.
Hopefully we'll hear something from Stax soon :)
Edit: It seems as though someone has created a Sourceforge project for StaxRip already. That was about a month ago, except there's been no activity since then.

I believe Stax built the SF account. Suppose he hasn't had time to upload anything... I would hope he would release the current build in progress source to a trunk via SVN.
Hopefully he does so; cause it pains me to see a good project die.

Indeed. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the source code posted on his website right now is an older build. I'd like to be able to work with the latest trunk available.

Sorry about the late reply, my router/modem died, had been offline some days. It seems the programmer who wanted to work on StaxRip and created the sourceforge project has lost interest, don't reply to my mail, I don't have access to the project. I don't remember which changes I made to the code if any since the last release, I've uploaded the current source now. I've coded a player that possibly could also be part of the same project in case I decide to release the source code. I consider to make it shareware but I'm not sure if that would work, maybe it's just a dumb idea. Having different applications that follow a similar philosophy in the same project has a couple of advantages, promotion being the most important.

I've created a new SourceForge project named StaxMedia, StaxRip and StaxPlayer source code will be commited as soon as the project is accepted by SourceForge.
@Sagekilla
If you download the code, open the project file and build there shouldn't be any errors! Are you sure it wasn't the MPC-HC code ;), I've needed a few hours to setup the build environment for it properly. After it finally built using the debugger was quite useful to understand how things work. Debugging MediaPortal helped too and that's pretty much all sources helpful to build a player.

Hm. I'm pretty sure I downloaded the source code for the correct project (http://www.planetdvb.net/non_drupal/staxrip/src.php) (It did have folders "Stax" and "StaxRip" :)). I'll try again and see if it builds properly.
Great to hear you're starting up the SourceForge project soon though!

First time I've submitted the project to SourceForge it was rejected because the description was too short. I've submitted a correction but didn't get a answer, meanwhile I've uploaded a new beta with new x264 build and profiles.

Wow ! That's fan-tas-tic to hear Stax !
Thank you sooooooo much ! :o

The project was accepted and I've checked in the code plus binaries, using TortoiseSVN it was very easy :), both can be downloaded directly from the svn web interface:
go to menu 'Code'
select 'SVN Browse'
go to directory you want to download, binaries are always in directories called bin
click on 'Download GNU tarball'
extract it using 7-Zip
StaxRip relies on Stax
StaxPlayer relies on DirectShowLib
I'll make some releases at one time but since the svn web interface is really nice it's not really urgent. I'll also change my website to point to the new project and after a while shut it down. Development from my side will be slow but since everything is on SourceForge now anybody is free to contribute. Joining the project getting svn access requires to submit patches of reasonable quality beforehand, that's a good practice many projects use.

Just like to register my moral support for Staxrip. I think its a great program - better than the rest. I'd hate to see it die.
Long Live Staxrip!
