View Full Version : Nero issues at write lead-in

When I want to burn a decrypted movie, Nero writes the lead in then skips a few millimeters and then starts burning the movie. This causes the DVD to freeze. It is still playable, I have to >>| to Chapter 2, then << to the beginning of Chapter 1. Nero worked great for me for years. Then it crashed and I had to remove it with a clean tool. I then re-installed Nero from the Nero website. I have the latest Nero update for Nero 7 as of Dec 2008.

I have used Nero for years and like it. I have tried changing many of the settings with no luck. It takes about 2 to 5 minutes to burn the lead-in and then goes to the movie with that 1 or 2 mm break with no writing. I can burn MP3 CD's and there is no break. I can also burn MP3 DVD's and Nero does not create a break with no writing.

I am about ready to give up on Nero with DVD burning. It still works great for my MP3 Disks (DVD or CD) making.

Also I use a free version of DVDfab (version 5). It has none of the special features. Just decrypts the movie. I also have used that software for a very long time with no issues. Maybe it is a decryption issue???

Thanks for any help and/or advice.

Hi!

Before everyone tells you to "Use IMGBurn instead of NERO", I'd suggest to you that your problem is more likely with your burner, rather than a problem with NRERO:It takes about 2 to 5 minutes to burn the lead-inI've used NERO for years for burning DVDs (starting with v.5.xxx) - and the lead-in time should be no greater than 1 minute for DVD+Rs and no greater than 40 seconds for DVD-Rs. Your burner may benefit from a cleaning disc. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US...

You could try imgburn if you get a better result then at least you know it's nero! Also check dma mode is active.
