IfoEdit problems recently

I recently started having problems with ifoedits add commands feature. I wont left me right click and add pre or post commands. This feature worked in the past and I just wondered if someone knew why It doesnt now? Ive tryied on two computers both wont add the blank command.

I know ifoedit is old and has had bugs in the past. This is just a little weird since it just started doing this a few weeks to a month ago. I like to use it to kill playback on some things and then inject the modified ifo/bup back in the image. I cant do that kind of modification with PGCedit.

I just found that PGCedit does now let me make changes to the files in an image and save without the vobs. This is something that wasnt supported last I ask him about it. Great I have my solution now. But I still wonder whats up with IfoEdit lately.

Not sure what's wrong with IfoEdit, but why do you want to modify an ISO? And how do you "inject" the modified files in the images? IMO, it is much more simple and secure to copy all files to disc, and recreate the image with the edited files.

Anyway, you should take care. With PgcEdit, the calculation of the VTS sector pointers must be made with the final VOB files in the current DVD folder. If you copy the IFOs and BUPs without the VOBs in a folder and then modify them, they will be wrong. However, you can probably mount the image, load the IFOs in PgcEdit, modify them and save them in another folder. PgcEdit will use the source folder to calculate the VTS sectors. But take in mind that you cannot edit the saved IFOs again.

Also, if the ISO is a 1:1 copy of the original, it may contains gaps between the files. If it's the case, PgcEdit will not take them into account, and again will update the VTS pointers with wrong values. And if you add or remove commands or recreate a table, the size of the IFO may change. That's also a cause of incompatibility with the layout of the ISO.

Yeah that's what I was doing, mounting the image. It saves me a little time and space over recreating the image. I use a program called winimage that can inject modified files back into the original image if the size has not changed. It's handy for making ppf patches for images.

Usually ifoedit would only change the commands needed and would not cause issue with the rest of the disc. I've done this more times than I can remeber to skip warnings and such without a single problem with the finished and tested movie.

Now for some reason ifoedit won't add any command in the table. The option is still there like normal but it just doesn't add anything.

I haven't full looked into if the pgcedit method works ok 100% yet.

As I've explained, PgcEdit recreates the sectors pointers anyway, and it rebuilds all tables dynamically when the DVD is saved, so using it is probably not a good idea. In the other hand, IfoEdit modifies only what you have explicitly modified.

Check to see if the files or iso is read-only.

I checked and they are not. I'll try an xp machine later but it's worked on my vista machines fine until lately. Could someone check to see if it's just me?

It works for me, but I remember I had some problems with that option (and with several other features related to the commands edition) in the past. It's why I have written the first version of PgcEdit btw. IIRC, it is not possible to add commands when there are already a certain number of commands. I know that IfoEdit cannot add a new sector in the IFO to expand a table. That might be the reason for this limitation.

Have you tried to edit a PGC with less commands?

Yeah, it does that on any try. I'll try the other xp machine when I can. I wonder if it could be an update on my machines. Adding a command the table remains unchanged. Believe me, I love all the work done with PGCEdit and this is the only operation I still called on IFOEdit to do.
