HEllo all,
I'm not new to reading this forum, but I am a new member and after hours of searching web forums, I'm spent.
Okay, here's my problem. For a few years, I have been using DVD Shrink w/ Nero 6.06.13 or something like that. Never had any problems, ever. Worked perfect. Then I built a new computer last month with the following:
motherboard-ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD
cpu-AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
memory-Kingston HyperX 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Okay, and the motherboard has on-board video:
ATI Radeon HD 3100
After installing the OS (Windows XP Pro) I installed the motherboard drivers, utilities, then Nero and my other prgms including DVD Shrink, all on a brand new HDD.
Going into Shrink I was able to decrypt the movie, but as soon as I hit the back-up tab to make the VIDEO_TS folder, and burn the movie (like I've been doing for years) the hourglass icon comes up and stays up and then the 'prgm is not responding' message in the title bar comes up. I couldn't close it or cancel it via task manager. So I had to hard reboot, i.e. the power switch in the back.
Tried several things, unistall Nero/Shrink, reinstall Nero/Shrink, reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled the OS, even tried installing Nero and Shrink in different orders. Same result. However something odd occured when I reinstalled Shrink minus Nero and decrypted the movie and as soon as I hit the back-up button, success! But half-assed success. The burn/make VIDEO_TS folder window came up, but in the upper corner in blue font, it said 'You need to Install Nero in order to burn a DVD' -I'm paraphrasing.
But I was able to get the VIDEO_TS Folder made, though it does me no good without Nero to burn it.
So what I did was put the DVD burner back in the old computer -now my wife's.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Did I miss something, a step somewhere? Why would this affect a new computer build, when it worked perfect before? Motherboard? CPU?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
