hi gang,
i tried to rip a dvd that consisted of a main movie and 2 short extras...the main movie ripped no problem, but when i try to rip the extras there are no audio streams available to be selected...i know they're there because i watched the dvd on my player and i could hear it, but all that is available is a 2ch LPCM stream which is greyed out, and when i select enable all audio tracks it becomes available, but still does not demux...i have my r4r configured as per the doom9 guide, and i have searched this forum to no avail...does this mean that i cannot rip these extras with audio, or is there a way around this?
thanks,
---> rvw.

just wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem yet...since there were 0 replies i fear i may have said or done something wrong, but no one told me what that was...was my question too dumb, unanswerable, against the rules, or posted somewhere else in the forum already (i did look and didn't find anything)...a little help please.
thanks,
-rvw

Hi!

Sounds like it's time for you to use more current software. The following was posted two years ago:Robot4Rip is not supported. The developer ceased working on it in September 2003, to the best of my knowledge.

Since that time, a number of different anti-rip technologies have been brought to bear by the commercial distribution companies: Arrcos, RipGuard, and others.

Use a more up-to-date technology...

Robot4Rip is still usable, you just have to be aware that it is old. Using it with a version DGIndex > 1.5.0 will not demux any audio tracks because of changes made to DGIndex. It also doesn't let you choose DTS and apparently LPCM audio tracks because, I guess, the tools back then either couldn't demux them or decode them.

It works just fine with nearly every DVD I throw at it. Living in PAL land is good for something. When it does have problems it is because of DVDDecrypter's limitations with the rip protections setarip_old mentioned, not because of limitations with r4r itself.

TL;DR: setarip_old is right, if you want something to do it all for you, look for something newer.
