MSI or ASUS, and is it still possible to use XP cpu's dual, instead of MP?

ASUS A7M266-D socket A dual mp

or

MSI K7D Master LR AMD 760MPX ATA100 ATX 266mhz

You know it will be fast, so why take chances when it comes to stability. Tyan has proven themselves, Asus and MSI haven't (yet).

Yes, you can use XPs rather than MPs. The 760MPX also supports/allows dual XP systems.

as does the older 760MP chipset. Just realize that XP's aren't tested to run in SMP, so if they don't you're out of luck. Most XP's will, though.

Which software program can I use to see if they are working as they should in SMP?

If both your mobo and windows (2k or XP!) recognise 2 processors, you're in business. Mind you, a Tyan MP mobo will recognise XP processor as MP.
