Hi,
I've just started using a Philips DVD recorder to record some TV, direct from cable. The recorder seems very quirky, just like a Magnavox I used to have (should have learned because aren't they sister companies?) Anyway, I digress. It records great and plays back fine itself, but I can't get it to finalize disc, so I can play it on other players. I googled the problem, adn one solution was to put a small text file on the disc using Nero, which I have, and let my computer burner finalize it. Can someone elaborate on exactly how to do that with Nero?

Thanks
BM

try ImgBurn: Tools -> Drive -> Close -> Disc

Hi,

Any dvd recorder should/must have a finalize/close function; if jeffy's tip is not working, read your booklet again.

Googling gave me these info:

That ImgBurn tip looked promising, but it gave me a weird error, so I don't think that will work. I've followed the owner's manual guide (Philips model 3475), it says press setup button on remote, to which there is no response. I messed with it a lot over the weekend; I have now set it to auto-finalize when disc full, and tested this which worked well.
But, I have my original recording "Killing Pablo Escobar" which I really want to copy for a friend. This is what I can't get to finalize. It plays great on my recorder, so I think there has to be a way to get it. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

So it is a dvd recorder AND a HDD recorder. I see 2 possibilities:
1/ copy your Escobar movie from your dvd back to HDD, change dvd and try again
2/ (after trying step1) reset your options to factory mode and try again finalizing manually; you may have situations where finalizing a part full disk (RW) may be handy...
