For a long time, i have noticed my captures always drop frames. This is not due to my PC's performance or any active background applications. After much hair-wrenching, i came to conclude its either the problem of my Huappuage WinTV card or btwincap drivers.
Let me discribe the symptom. Whenever there is dropped frames, it will always comes in one big group, somewhere like 8-16 frames at one go. It can come anytime during a capture, but once there are frames dropped, the next group of dropped frames will be EXACTLY 1 hour. And it will continue for every hour. An example, last night i have done a capture of 3hrs and 35mins. The timestamp of the dropped frames are:
0:01:39.299
1:01:39.529
2:01:39.726
3:01:39.922
Clearly, this is not the usual performance issue. Things that i have tried:
-VirtualDub
-VirtualVCR
-NTSC sources
-PAL sources
-btwincap
-Huappuage drivers
-Pentium4 system running XP 32-bit
-Core 2 Quad system running Vista 64-bit
-Onboard Realtek Sound
-Creative SB Live! Soundcard
-Eagle GeForce FX 5600
-ELSA GeForce 6800GT
-Leadtek GeForce 7600GT
-XpertVision Readon 4850
-switching PCI slots
-enable/disable bus mastering
-enable/disable Spread Spectrum
-enable/disable Overclocking
And many of the permutation between all of them. I am getting very tired of this. The only thing I didn't change is the TV card. I can't seems to find another guy in this forum with the same problem. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this? Do you have the same problem? I don't mind getting another analog capturing card that can capture for a whole day with 0 dropped frames. Izzit possible?
