.MDF to x264 MKV?

I have a .mdf file from a movie I made an image file out of, its merely an iso at the moment so practically a dvd on my hard drive,

what im wondering, is how can I extract just the video and audio ( and maybe subs ) and put into an mkv compressed with x264 and probobly heAAC for audio.

any help at all is greatly appreciated :)

You'll need a couple of tools in your quiver.

First off, you need to decrypt the DVD. There are a few products out there that will do this for you (The MDF file is pretty much worthless, just rip from the original DVD). I recommend DVD Decrypter or DVDFab. Out of the two, I have never had a DVD I couldn't decrypt.

After that you'll need to decide how involved you want to be in the encoding process. I would suggest looking into the MPEG-4 GUI forum for threads on the current encoding frontends. AutoMKV, Starx rip, and megui are all pretty good frontends.

no longer in my possession lol

so ill have to burn the .mdf to a disc and go from there... damn lol

hmm, is there a way to convert mdf to iso?

ah dont worry, ill just mount and then make an image file..

hmm, I looked in the settings for ripping, and by default they're set to data disc, and below there is only dvd-video or dvd-audio...

im using daemon tools to burn and rip.
