Ok I bought a new burner 2 months ago. I recently had problems backing up my dvd's. I recently purchased Saw V and Max Payne I had no problem getting them on my computer using DvDfab 5 or shrinking them but now all of a sudden I am having a problem getting them to disk. I am using Nero8 burns to about 3-4% then says burn failed I am at a lost. Like I said it is a new Sony burner and I used sony and memorex media. Can anyone help me? You guys have been great in the past and I appreciate all your help

Hi!

1) As an experiment, try using (freeware) IMGBurn instead of NERO for burning

2) Please post the NERO log for one of the two failed burns (IMPORTANT - Delete your Registration number" from the posted log)

I have been backing up my dvd's and my sisters like crazy. I turned off my computer last night and turned it on again this morning and it burned just fine. Could the laser on the burner be getting too hot?

wouldn't have thought so..... even if you just turned it off and on it would've stayed at roughly the same tempreture and heated up quickly to its thermal shut off poit.... whats the ambient temps in your house like?

I'd be more thinking that the Nero software got screwed and after a reboot came good.... i work on a help desk and no lies here at least 25-30% of problems are solved with a reboot!

@glitch19732000Could the laser on the burner be getting too hot?Not likely.

On the other hand , it IS more likely that your system was overheating...

Nero is still crap, though. Take setarip_old's suggestion and switch to ImgBurn.

@glitch19732000

Glad to hear that the much maligned (excessively, in my opinion, as I've used it successfully over the years for many of its functions) NERO was not the cause of your difficulty ;>}
