Xvid encoding question

Hello, I need some help

I have a NTSC DVD, if I Gspot the VOB from it, the items it says it is, in order

VOB #1: I/L (interlaced), TFF, NTSC, 4:3, pics 29.9, frames 29.9, fields 59.9
VOB #2: I/L (interlaced), TFF, BFF, NTSC, 4:3, pics 29.9, frames 29.9, fields 59.9
VOB #3: I/L (interlaced), TFF, BFF, NTSC, 4:3, pics 29.9, frames 29.9, fields 59.9
VOB #4: I/L (interlaced), TFF, NTSC, 4:3, pics 29.9, frames 29.9, fields 59.9


So im guessing the transfer and film was low budget thus why they have both TFF and BFF, and Im guessing that the output fps will be 29.9. So my question is what is best and simplest way to encode this DVD down to Xvid. My normal way produces a subpar result that is not satisfactory, because even when I put it at a 29.9 FPS and use the deinterlacer option it gives, the video result is pretty bad.

Does anyone have any suggestions or an idea what I should use or where I should look? Thanks

Yea no problem. the movie is Puppet Master 2 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100438/
I got the collection and all the other movies besides #2 havent given me problems and when I Gspot the other movies, the VOBs of the other movies are done differently which makes me think this movie was either filmed differently or transferred differently

If a DVD is NTSC one can't automatically assume it's R1 it could be from another region (like 0, 2, 3 ,4)

Well, to further answer your question, this DVD was from the puppet master boxset, put out by Full Moon. So it is the NTSC R1 release

When I have doubt on how to deinterlace I simply use MeGui "avisynth creator" option. I give him the .d2v file, he analyzes that and gives me back the .avs file ready to be used with the proper deinterlacing string.

Im sorry but Im gonna need alittle more info then that.

Can someone please help me with the information given, tried AutoMKV, but have been getting mixed results and improper filesizes even when theyre specified
