Hi everyone,

First of all let me begin with saying thank you for welcoming me to DOOM9 forum.I also want to extend my gratitude and appreciation to the moderators/administrators for allowing me to join this wonderful forum. Before i post my question,i must inform everyone that i'm a newbie to video conversion, technical aspects to conversion and codecs/encoders,etc but if i don't ask, then i will never learn.

I've read the FAQs and threads/post that i felt related to my question but i'm still confused.i'm not sure whether i really understand or perhaps i need some other clarifications. ok,to cut long story short, here is my question. i will rephrase my question using an example to make it clearer.

I have two videos.both videos and their format below:-
Video1.hdtv.avi
Video2.720p.hdtv.x264.mkv

From what i understand, avi and mkv are containers in which the video is stored.i use KM player to watch Video2.basically i prefer Video2 over Video1 because the picture quality is good and the resolution is 1280x720.the image is clear and the sound is also amazing.

now, from what i understand, both videos were recorded from HDTV but converted into different formats.i'm including the media info of both videos for comparison purposes)

ok,my questions are:-
1) in relation to the media info in video2, why is the video labeled as video#1 and the audio as audio#2?

2)using relevant tools or softwares,is it possible to convert video1 into video2 and achieve the same quality, resolution and audio as Video2? if yes, what tools or softwares suggested??

My apologies for the lengthy post..it's just that i wanted to include everything so as to make my question clear.I also hope that i'm not asking a question that has been repeated in this forum.

Thank you and have a nice day, everyone:thanks:
