Nero-7.10.1.0_eng_full.exe
MD5: E7C94A757600BD631807692B7BCD2BA4

Not sure what an MD5 is, see this tool:
HashTab (http://beeblebrox.org/hashtab/)

It is in regards to this post (http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=56208&st=320&p=828797&#entry828797), if you are wondering why I am asking.

Yes, I know - use ImgBurn. I am using it. But I like Nero for its Nero Recode and I use it for Audio CDs. Currently, at 6.6.0.18 and it works great, but some features of eac3to require Nero 7.

Also, does anyone know, do I need to install Nero Showtime to have it add the DirectShow filters or will it get added to the base installation anyways if I choose not to install it?

Thants the checksum I have, and I downloaded it from neros site when I bought it.

You don't need to install showtime to get the filters, just enter a serial that allows you to activate the HD-DVD/bluray plugin.

In c:\program files\common files\ahead\dsfilter
you should have

NeEacDec.dll
and
NeAudio2.ax

I had to run

regsvr32 "c:\programfiles\common files\ahead\dsfilter\NeAudio2.ax"

from an elevated command prompt to register the filter.

Thanks for confirming the MD5.

Looks like all the filters are there (in Nero dir.) but if you do not install Showtime then they do not get registered - correct?

Curious, are you still using the 7.10.1.0 or have you upgraded to the latest 7.11.10.0?

Do you use this Nero for burning, recode or is it strictly just used by you for these filters? Just trying to get an idea how stable version 7 is. I here that if you avoid installing certain items then it works well.

As mentioned there is the AutoIt script I have linked to in my first post which allows you to choose certain items to install and cleans up other garbage it installs. There is also a Nero Lite and Micro editions (http://updatepack.nl/).

Do you use any of these type installs? Anyone else care to comment?

I used Nero Burning ROM from v4 to 7. I still find the burning part of Nero awesome, but Imgburn is just as good now.

I probably did upgrade to 7.11 (or whatever was the latest) at the time.

I refused to install nero 7 on any machine after I installed / uninstalled it on a Vista beta and it deleted a bunch of media file extensions from the registry.

Someone on this forum (DrNein I think) suggested the micro version, which I installed a few days ago with my old license from 2006 (thankfully gmail doesnt delete old mail).

This doesn't lay down the NeEACDec.dll, so you'll need to extract the file from Nero-7.10.1.0_eng_full.exe, drop it in the DSFilter folder and register NeAudio2.ax

I don't see the point in upgrading if it works. Especially if all you want is the codec part, since that probably wan't updated anyway.

One concern I have is that the 2 versions significantly differ in sizes. See below.

So just what is packed in that latest version of Nero? I opened the EXE using 7-Zip and the size differences seem to be in the CAB files. I know that older versions on Nero 6 used to offer Nero Vision/Recode as a separate download.

Can someone who uses the older 7.10.1.0 confirm that it does include Nero Vision/Recode. And if so then what is making it such a big difference in size. Maybe its this Nero Sipps or something else.
