Could anyone offer some more details as per the difference between BeHappy's "Gerzen Profile, Farina Profile, Multisonic Profile, and Sound on Sound Profile" and how they compare to the "audio with mostly dialog" and "audio with mix out sounds" for Stereo to 5.1 Upmix?

MeGUI's offers "Upmix 2 to 5.1 via SuperEQ", "Upmix 2 to 5.1 via Sox equalizer adjustments", "and Upmix 2 5.1 with center channel dialog" (as I'm sure most know). However, was not able to really find information to the differences in SuperEQ vs Sox after some searching. Does the third option (center channel) force dialog to the center channel only and effects to the other channels?

I've done upmix a lot before using the "V.I STEREO TO 5.1 CONVERTER" with Audition found here: http://www.stevethomson.ca/vi/ and had good results. But I was interested if anyone has tried this as well as other methods from BeHappy and MeGUI.

Any information would be helpful. Thanks

The MeGUI and BeHappy filters to upmix with AviSynth are from NorthPole, see BeHappy thread post #48 (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=777925&postcount=48) until post #95.

Don't exist the perfect upmix, one method can work better than other for a specific sound track.
I always recommend preserve the original tracks and use upmix functions at play time only, but you are free to experiment.

BTW, I also prefer the V.I vst plugin and can be used with free software (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=105684) (Foobar2000)

How do you force the audio up-mix on playback only? So the audio stream remains stereo and up-mixes based on the user's speaker setup?
I've always done the up-mix as six single wavs and merge the during the final NeroAAC into the one 5.1 6channel track. Then just merge again do the video.

The nice thing about the V.I up-mix process is that it remains as a .wav until you do the final NeroACC encode.
Allowing you to view the wav forms in a program like Adobe Audition.
When using BeHappy/MeGUI you end up with the final encode and can't really review it.

The receivers have always some DSP functions to do the job. Different delay, frequency filters, common part to center channel, ... DolbyProLogic (there are tracks with dpl II in 2.0).

But feel free to experiment and make your proper upmix
