When I use WMP to play a AVCHD file using either the CoreAVC or DivX 7 decoder, it recognizes that my 1440X1080 file is anamorphic and stretches it to look normal (plays it as a 1920X1080). However, when I use DivX Player to play that same file, it plays it as a 1440X1080 file so the people look squeezed. Am I missing a setting to fix this?

I found out that some player like mpc-hc didn't only looked at the "dar" info but also at the sar from the h.264 stream. When I had an anamorphic dvd not working once the next time when I've set the sar in the encoder it worked flawlessly. enter --sar x:y. "maybe" h.264 info can permit you to set it, it's worth to check.
