View Full Version : nero MPEG-2 encoder

We have a DV handicam and after a few tests with different encoders we decided that nero MPEG-2 encoder looks the best when we play it on our dvd player. The colour is very warm on the TV and overall we thought the other encoders looked cold.

I have decided I would like to use the nero MPEG-2 encoder. At the moment I need to use NeroVision Express 3 to
-import the .avi file,
-do not create a menu
-ensure 2 passes in the settings.
It then creates a .vob file, which I then import into DVD lab pro and create the DVD.

1)I do not like using NeroVision Express to create .vob files, I would like to use a software that can simply load the nero MPEG-2 encoder and create dvd compliant mpg file which then i can import into DVD lab.
2) DVD lab complains that open GOBs are detected, hopefully this can be avoided if I use some kind of software that can use the nero MPEG-2 encoder.

So in summary my question is,is there any program you know of that I can use the nero mpeg 2 encoder, so i don't have to use the nero GUI, which can create mpg file. Thanks

If the difference is in the "warmness of the color", I suspect you're dealing with an issue of colorspace conversion matrices, which is pretty much unrelated to the encoder.

Tell dvdlab to stop those warnings in project properties. Don't waste your time with Nero. Use hc encoder or cce

OK, but I am not sure how to adjust that to match nero visions one with a different encoder. I am sure that it is related, since nero vision express has no settings to adjust "colorspace conversion matrices".

I am sure that it is related, since nero vision express has no settings to adjust "colorspace conversion matrices".ColorMatrix in Avisynth should give you what you need to adjust colors appropriately before encoding. You can also try Tweak, I think.

Also note the difference between BT.601 and BT.709 color standards.
